Also, I wanted to comment that the group/role/user model needs to be reconciled with the realm/role/user model that the servlet API uses, for the sake of portletAPI and future J2EE integration.
I think a portal could have either a URL fragment <-> realm, or a virtual host <-> realm mapping.
like: http://intranet.enterprise.com/marketing/ or
http://marketing.intranet.enterprise.com/ would authenticate and/or authorise users in the "marketing" group, aka Realm
It would be simpler to do if the users are the same, only user-role mappings change in different groups/realms, i.e., different groups would mean different permissions sets for the *same* users.
This is not exactly the same as the Realm model, where different Realms mean (potentially) different users
Any thoughts on this?
I am using no /jetspeed/portal urls on purpose, because having a more generic URL mapping engine for our portal would be a very interesting feature.
