i think the problem is not in the portlet code!
where is the page code is geerated? from the portlet it doesn't work!
i have put response.setContentType("text/xml"); at the beginning of each
function(doview, dohelp, etc) and it doesn't work the produced page is still
html!

this goes in the code of the portlet or somewhere else?
i've tried it inside the portlets code but the generated portal page is
still text/html!
You should define the response content type where the response is
generated, i.e. in doView(), doEdit(), doHelp() methods, before the
response writer in invoked.
