Michael Lipp commented on JS2-23:
---------------------------------

Every time I use the Admin portlets, I think "I've seen better", but ... they
work, except for some caching problems (you can't always use the newly created
item) and JS2-337. For this kind of management tasks, I prefer this left list,
right list, shift layout, you know:

,----------------------, ,---------------------,
| unassigned | >> | assigned |
| items | << | items |
| | | |
'----------------------' '---------------------'

(won't look good with every font, but I hope you know what I mean).

Of course, as we have working portlets for this, this isn't a priority 1 issue
for 2.0-Final. On the other hand side, the administrative portlets are the ones
that people will see first when using the portal. And I know from experienece
that these first impressions -- unreasonable as it may be -- will be very
important for the acceptance of the portal. We may have the best architecture,
but if users say "yeah, but I don't like how it looks", it won't be accepted,
no matter how often you state that this is easy to fix (exaggerating a bit, but
that's my experience).

Currently there is only one issue assigned to you, David. There are certainly
more important, still unassigned issues for 2.0-FINAL. But if those are out of
your scope, and you can do the new portlets for 2.0-FINAL I'd favour to see new
portlets for administration (and it would at least fix JS2-337 ;-)).
