Hi Steve,
thanks for the info. That is very helpful.

I suppose if jetspeed is used in its "default" form (ie. not jetspeed
desktop), then dojo.js is not used at all, correct? (Excuse my
ignorance, I haven't really checked out jetspeed desktop yet).

At this time, jetspeed-desktop is using a nightly source build of dojo from

by use of a later dojo version (later meaning anything after what is
currently checked-in: dojo nightly build 2006-04-21).

We use dojo source builds because we're still developing jetspeed-desktop.
Replacing the source build with one of the compressed editions should not
cause problems (so long as the particular compressed edition does not
exclude dojo components needed by jetspeed-desktop - and of course it must
be 2006-04-21 or later).

When deploying jetspeed, dojo is expanded from this zip file:
   src/javascript/dojo/dojo.zip
to:
   <portal-webapp-context>/javascript/dojo/

Also, it is not possible for two versions of dojo to exist in the same
webpage. In fact, it is disastrous.

I hope this helps.

Steve

Subject: Jetspeed and dojo

Hey guys,
I know that dojo has been baked into jetspeed post release 2.0 to
support the desktop features and that is great.

I have been working against 2.0 for a while now and am looking forward
to upgrading to 2.1. However, in the mean time, I've been using
elements of dojo within my portlets.

So I'm wondering what the impact will be when I upgrade. Assuming we
are using different versions and builds, is it even possible to have
an aggregated portal page that combines two different "dojo runtimes"
(for lack of a better term)?

Can you give me some details as to what version is being used? Are
you doing a dojo "build" (ie. creating a slimmed down build of just
the required elements)? And if so, has that been put into the
jetspeed build process so that one can incorporate their own dojo
packages?

thx in advance,
aaron
