What do you mean dpont misuse the JIRA for such trivial things?
JIRA should not be used as a question board, but for real issues/tasks/feature requests to be taken up by developers or contributors with the intend to change
and (hopefully) improve the product.
When I ask Stever Milek for this, first I dont get the reply for months, then
you say "trivial" things.
Well, this *is* a trivial thing, as setting a different portlet decorator like the clear decorator is one of the most basic and simplest configuration change
you can do with Jetspeed.
If that turns out not what you were asking for (or need) then please rephrase the question on the user mailing list and I (or others) are more then willing to
help you out.
Where were you all these months, if it was such a trivial thing.
You can't expect all of us to be immediately and full time available for any possible question (and in this case posted using the wrong medium) as we all work
on the project and provide support on a *voluntary* basis (unless you are willing to pay for support).
In this particular case, I simply missed the creation of this issue, sorry
about that, but those things happen. I have a normal daytime job on the side
too.
If I would have seen this issue earlier I would have responded in likewise
manner just the same though.
.
Also, if a new person is learning how to use
Jetspeed and its mechanism, is this the way you encourgae people.
We are trying to help people as much as we can, and for that (like all Apache
projects) we provide two different mailing lists:
- a user list where users can post questions concerning configuring and setting up jetspeed or anything generally related to jetspeed which do not directly
relate to specific code changes/enhances/bugs etc.
- a dev list for discussing code level issues, enhancement request, bugs, and
anything which might reflect the code level features.
As I explained above, JIRA is *not* to be used for support questions or alike, but for recording and tracking concrete issues, tasks and feature requests
related to a specific (component of) Jetspeed version. We, as developers and/or contributers, depend on it to provide a clear view of *real* tasks and issues at
hand, and we strive to keep it that way.
I didn't intend to offend you in any way, but I've had to "clean up" inappropriate usage of JIRA quite often in the past and unfortunately we will need to keep
doing that until all end users "get" the way how to properly make use of both the mailing lists and JIRA.
My calling this a "misuse" of JIRA might seem a bit harsh, but in the end,
that's what it is.
A very non-professional reply.
For the reasons I tried to explain above elaborately I disagree.
Please dont reply to my JIRA issues. I will take David's or Steve's
help.
Personally I don't care if you aren't interested in my expertise or opinions,
so feel free to ignore anything I say :)
But, both the mailing lists and JIRA are not "private" channels to be used/read
exclusively for anyone.
These channels are intended to be informative for *all* of the Jetspeed community, so whenever I want to contribute specific knowledge or an opinion which
potentially might benefit others too, I will do so, regardless who I'm responding too.
Regards,
Ate

Resolution: Invalid
This is not a proper task but a question which should be asked on the
user/dev mailing lists.
Please don't misuse JIRA for such trivial things.
FYI: "hiding" a portlet title bar is very simple: just use the clear
portlet decorator
