I echo your sentiment re a catalogue, after sifting through the source code
to no avail.

OK I tried to implement your suggestion as follows in the
jetspeed_config.jcfg file by making the following entries:

<portlet-entry type="abstract" name="WebPage">

<classname>org.apache.jetspeed.portal.portlets.WebPagePortlet</classname>
        </portlet-entry>

<portlet-entry type="ref" parent="WebPage" name="IG">
<url>http://db.imperiumglobal.com/index.html</url>
<meta-info>
<title>IG</title>
<description>Imperium Global DB</description>
</meta-info>
</portlet-entry>

This didn't work. Then I looked in the source (1.3a1) and noticed that
there is no org.apache.jetspeed.portal.portlets.WebPagePortlet. Is it in
another package? I can't find it. Or is it recently added in the CVS (which
I haven't got to grips with yet :) )?

PS a big congratulations on Jetspeed to all contributors. I am amazed at
the amount of work that must have gone into it so far.

James

Subject: RE: external HTML pages in a portlet

James,

I think you are expecting a lot from the FileServer portlet :-)
Try the WebPagePortlet.
It doesn't work perfectly on all websites, and there are lots of lots of
issues related to this (rewriting urls, scripts, session management). The
WebPagePortlet is a good start to a difficult problem: proxying external
websites. Please let us know how it works out.

btw - it would be nice if we had some kind of catalog of portlets
