I don't think uPortal is ready for prime-time yet.  I
have been evaluating both and although I think uPortal
is a better engineered framework, it is missing some
key functionality that is a necessity for an
enterprise portal, such as the notion of roles linked
with user permission.  Although I think in the next
release of uPortal (2.1 in Oct '02) it will be a real
contender against Jetspeed, right now, Jetspeed is a
better framework because of the complete functionality
provided.  Also, Jetspeed provides support for XML,
Velocity, WML, and many other content formats, when
uPortal only really support JSP and XML with limited
support for WML.  Even though I'm developing a portal
for a university, I am choosing Jetspeed because of
these reasons, but I'm developing with uPortal in mind
also for future portability.
