If you are more interested in an "out of the box" experience, you would be better off looking at portals built using jetspeed, like the CHEF project http://chefproject.org. OTOH, Jetspeed 2 is a JSR-168 portal using the Pluto container and can integrate any existing JSR-168 compliant portlets. However, the time frame for a stable J2 release is still quite some time into the future.
