Remember reading in Tomcat 5.0 documentation on classloading on how Tomcat
uses the endorsed standards override mechanism that is supported by JDK1.4
to replace the XML parser that is part of the JDK package. Copying the xalan
jar to the common/endorsed directory of Tomcat ensures that it gets used
even under JDK1.4 instead of using whatever is packaged with JDK1.4
