Did you try the PSML file instead. I remember now a little as to what we
did. We used the PSML file to give a title to every portlet and then
modified the Jetspeed.vm to do this
$110n.get($portlet_instance.Title,$110n.getLocale())

In the original Jetspeed.vm the line is: $portlet_instance.Title

So only changing the PSML or xreg file is not enough you need to also
change the control files associated with the rendering. Hope that helps.

Sorry been swamped so could not reply earlier.

Dear Archana, dear all,

FYI, the solution I proposed does not work as if I specify

<registry>

    <portlet-entry ...>

        <meta-info>

            <title>$l10n.MY_PORTLET</title>

        </meta-info>

    </portlet-entry ...>

...

the title is not retrieved from the localization files but it is simply

rendered 'as it is'.

No fast solution then...

Cheers,

Stefano

For panes what we did is we wanted the user to input the key that is

specified in the resource file and then modified the vm/jsp file to take

that input and do a I10 on that string.

As far as the portlet title goes what you suggested may work and infact

I think I tried that and it had worked (Long time back :-))..

Thanks Archana,

just to understand...

I think I have to look at

    $portlet_instance.Title

in

    WEB-INF\templates\vm\controls\html\jetspeed.vm

To get title localized, I should specify my portlet name in the xreg

file,

something like

<registry>

    <portlet-entry ...>

        <meta-info>

            <title>$l10n.MY_PORTLET</title>

        </meta-info>

    </portlet-entry ...>

...

so that, once embedded in the .vm file, it is properly shown, but... is

that

allowed?

And what about panes?

Should I then modify each pane writing directly in the related psml file

once it has been created?

Or can I just set

    $l10n.MY_PANE

as value when creating it through the administration interface?

Thanks,

Stefano

In the past when we had to do it ...we just directly modified the layout

and navigation menus vm/jsp files to query localized strings. That way

the panes and titles are localized

Subject: J1.6 localisation native support for portlet and pane names

Dear all,

I am using J1.6 and I need a hint about localisation of portlet (and

pane)

titles and left menus... is that natively supported somehow by Jetspeed?

I had a look at the tutorial but it is quite limited. Any good best

practice

to follow?

Thanks

Stefano
