Could anyone on this list please create (or contribute to) a detailed,
step-by-step to-do list for installation on NT and/or Linux?

I'd be happy to collect this info together, edit it, and modify the existing
installation document.

It's a bit frustrating to spend weeks on an install when the knowledge is
obviously out there.  If we can avoid having people re-invent the wheel on
tasks like installation and configuration, productivity on the project will
rise significantly and more individuals will be able to contribute.

I'd recommend we focus on a particular deployment platform (e.g., apache w/
tomcat or perhaps just tomcat using its internal http server).  I use both
Linux and NT so I'd be happy to maintain an installation/configuration
document for both platforms as the project progresses.

Just for background, I've been working with the slashdot.org portal code but
prefer the jsp/servlet environment to perl scripts.
