That's not the best approach to an open-source development, better to 
have 2 persons working on a feature and then see which implementation works
best rather than waiting on someone to handle task.

Any code or documentation contributed will help the project even if it's not 
ultimately in the release. It may help identifying implementation issues, 
mis-understood components, etc...

+10 on that, go on look at ecs and give us the patch to make it output 
xhtml, I really need this feature for the XMLPortletController but I'm
busy working on the portlet markup...
