well I have dealt with this problem and you can get tickers from yahoo site
in quite good format:
use URL http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?f=sl1d1t1c1ohgv&e=.csv and for
each symbol you want to get a quote for, add "s" parameter.

For example:
http://finance.yahoo.com/d/quotes.csv?f=sl1d1t1c1ohgv&e=.csv&s=MSFT&s=SUNW
would retrieve the quotes of Microsoft (MSFT) and Sun (SUNW).

The format of the output is comma delimited list with the following fields:
ticker, last close, date, time, change, open, high, low, volume

I have experienced that sometimes their data is not very correct and not up
to date, but most of the time it is quite ok.
