I think a definition was given in one if the Portlet API discussions and
I hope Thomas will put it in his summary document...

No, just update the Turbine implementation to use the new 2.0 API. If 
someone manages to write a 2.0 API compatible portlet that wraps a 1.2 API
one it's even better but definitely not high on my priority list for 2.0 api.
