If you are looking for a mail type application for JetSpeed
you can look at http://jwma.sourceforge.net
It's a webmail application that has an Apache style license
and it uses a very clean MVC model already and could
probably be made to work with Velocity templates very
easily. Right now the view for JWMA is in JSP pages,
but there is absolutely no business logic in the JSP
pages. The author wanted to try Velocity but didn't
have time.
At any rate all the mail classes are fully implemented
so it would be a good place to start.
