It is possible to read the messages that go through the list online by using the archive. There a link to this on the members page of the website.
Unfortunately, at the moment there is no way to go 'no mail' on the list. However, most email programs have the ability to automatically delete messages with out you reading them. I know this solution isn't perfect, but I am sure you will understand under the circumstances. The whole website, mailing lists and support are provided by Nancy Lees Company, Access Webworks. so you can see that at present I am unwilling to request help in this area.
