I too grew up with the "might need it mentality"
and I'm afraid I still have it. I collect and collect and collect "anything!"
What do I do to get out of that mindset? And thrift shops are my way of life
right now. I can actually afford lots of junk instead of just one thing in the
"real shops". Also, I take a bag of "stuff" to work with me every day thinking I
might need it, you know, stuff like tylenol, more pens, pencils, (they don't
have those at the school where I'm secretary - right!), all kinds of paperwork
(my old contracts, etc.), even nail polish in case I get a run (but I'm allergic
to pantyhose and haven't worn them in years!)and just junk! You should see my
purse and even my car? The newer one (1993) we just got after my accident
is already collecting stuff. Get my drift? I have a big problem.
