Hi Karen

About those Daily/Weekly/monthly, etc., lists. When I first did mine on
paper, which in itself took me ages LOL, I started using them straight away
but I cheated. You see there was no way I was going to keep doing them if I
threw myself in at the deep end and did it all on the days it was supposed
to. So I started small and did what I could and gradually as I got
accustomed and got sorted in the house I did more.

Take the vacuuming, Ok now I vacuum the whole carpet but when I first
started out I couldn't always get to see the whole carpet let alone vacuum
it. It would of taken me all day to put away, sort, declutter, etc the stuff
on the floor before I could vacuum.

I decided from the outset that although my lists were perfect, neither my
house or me where, so I would do my best in the time allowed and call it
'learning a new habit' and not beat myself up because I couldn't do some of
the things I wanted to perfectly.

Proper housework done regularly was new to me, its was like learning to
drive a car in a way, there was so much to think about and I got tired so
quickly LOL.

As I got better at the housework and did more things from my lists I got to
a stage where I needed to alter some of my lists. I was flipping a mattress
as a bi annual task on the Monday then Stripping the bed the following day
to wash the sheets. In practice it was obvious but when I sat down
originally to write my perfect lists I obviously couldn't see it.

So don't set your daily, weekly, etc tasks in stone, allow some flexibility
and don't be afraid to change them when you start using them.

When I wrote mine my first thought was I'd never get it all done in a day
which is another reason I started of slow, but I found the more often I used
the lists the fast I got and because I was also spending time decluttering
and organising it was less work.

I hope this makes sense, let me know how you get on. My lists are on the
website in the essays, they have changed since I wrote the essay, it wasn't
that they didn't work for me I just found another way that also worked and
in some cases deleted tasks altogether because I either didn't need to do it
anymore or I delegated.

So for this weekend I want to take down the Christmas decorations, give the
house a general clean and then produce a list of dailies, weeklies etc. that
I can work through. I still feel a bit daunted by this and if anyone has any
tips on how to stick to the lists and make them reasonable I'd love to hear
them.

Karen
