hello all Well together DH and I achieved quite a bit today. Its unusual for us to actively declutter together as we have differing ideas and find it difficult to be completely honest LOL.
The first success was the hallway cupboard. DH emptied it completely and together we made two piles, mine and his. We returned to the cupboard the coats we have worn this week and the rest either went in the donate bag or back into the wardrobe upstairs. We got rid of a lot of junk too. Then we moved onto the shoe box, also in the hallway. DH emptied it and together we put back the shoes we are wearing at the moment, threw out a lot of tired old shoes, added some pairs to the donate bag and the rest went where they belong upstairs. The 'shoe box' is in fact a wooden chest and is a lot bigger than an ordinary shoe box but its where we keep our shoes and house slippers. Then we tackled the bottom of DHs wardrobe, where we are going to be putting our bedding in the day time. Practically everything that was in the bottom of his wardrobe went in the bin. I found a pair of shoes that I have been missing for a couple of years and was so pleased to be reunited with them. They are now in my wardrobe, its just a pity I have to wait until summer to wear them. I have started the bed linen declutter and already thrown out quite a lot of stuff. I made sure DH was out when I did it, I know him too well ... 'I'll have that for cleaning the bikes' he'll say. From past experience I know that this means they will get bundled into a plastic bag that will live in the shed for ages and then be thrown out. I wanted to cut out the middle man so to speak and saved them several months in the shed and consigned them to the bin now. Whilst all this was going on I had two timers going so I could be there the minute the washing machine or the tumble dryer finished. I have a few more loads to do, these I will do tomorrow, its stuff we found whilst decluttering that need washing before they go to there home LOL. I managed to find a few quiet moments and have started scanning in my recipes. When faced with scanning them in, proof reading them and then importing them into my recipe software its amazing what you decide is not worth even this little effort. I am beginning to think that if I had to enter them manually that even more of them would disappear LOL. I must report some very good behaviour from Hobo (the dog) it must of been a great temptation to him to see all those lovely shoes scattered all over the floor, but he resisted and I am proud of him. He did help though, in his way, he dealt with the socks that also came out of the shoe box. As I remember it, some of last summer was really hot and when we got home from work off came the shoes and the socks, with Hobo in the house it was easier I suppose to put the socks in the shoe box than make the long journey upstairs to the laundry basket LOL. They're all washed now and put away. Maybe if this summer is as warm I will put a container in the shoe box for the socks then maybe they won't be 'lost' for quite so long. Talk to you later, dinner to cook Louise
