I have been battling the junk mail that pours through my letter box for over a year now, and although the methods listed below do sound silly, they work !!!!
When ever I get junk mail with a prepaid return envelope, I put the correspondence that they sent my back in the envelope with a little note say 'Please remove this address from your mailing list' (I have several pre-printed on a clip hanging by the front door just for this purpose). When I have had a really bad day and am feeling especially 'wicked' I just fill the envelope with anyone's junk mail that comes to hand. Little by little the junk mail is slowing up !!! After all the companies are paying postage !!!! Its pointless to do it anonymously though as they don't know who to remove from there mailing list. The worst type are the ones offering credit cards, we don't have any credit cards thank goodness. We don't have enough money today let alone spending next months. I keep a count for my own devious reasons of how many we get each month and who they are from. So far in the last six months we have had on average 40 invitations to apply for a credit card of one description or another each month. Each one is returned in its prepaid envelope with my pre-printed note. It usually takes about three times to stop the junk mail coming and for them to get the message. Some companies are more persistent, that's when I start sending them adverts as well for our local pizza delivery, events at the local pub, when the next WI jumble sale is etc,. etc., I have tried the usual methods, phone calls and letters asking them to remove this address from their mailing list, but that didn't work even though the person I spoke to on the phone assured me that they would never trouble me again or that I have the letter that says the same thing, but still they kept sending me junk mail. What's a person supposed to do ... I am quite capable of filling up my trash bin each week myself, I don't need help from anyone else LOL. Junk mail in the post or online is my pet hate ... I am a one woman army when it comes to junk mail.
