Joan & Debbie - I laughed my butt off on that one too. In general I am very good at grammar . My boss is a writer and I edit his work and find mistakes that he's missed. I wanted to take a one day grammar workshop, but he said don't bother with that - you could teach it.
HOWEVER, the whole lay, lie, laid thing has me baffled. My other downfall is take and bring. Bad habits from childhood that I can't seem to overcome. I should write those down correctly and study it everyday until I get it straight - but when talking it would still come out wrong. So don't feel bad Deb, you're not alone.
