[JFC]: Oven cleaning ?

Hi,
  Still working on my list and will update later.  Does anyone know if you can use regular oven cleaner to clean a self-cleaning gas oven?  I have a mess on the bottom and don't want to smoke up the house. It's to cold to open windows.
