Hello all

My DH is starting a new job after Easter, if all goes to plan (this job
already fell through once). He will be working unsociable hours starting at
2 am so will be sleeping in the daytime. At the moment we sleep in the front
of the house and it has been suggested by people 'in the know' that it would
be better to change over and sleep in the back of the house where it will be
quieter. So after much discussion with DH and a few promises on my part we
are changing rooms.

What is now our bedroom will become my office/craft/computer room and visa
versa. As the room which is at present my office/craft/computer room hasn't
been decorated in the 15 or so years I have owned the house and the carpet
was here when I moved in, it has been decided to take the opportunity to
decorate this room and replace the carpet.

Ok so what does this mean in real terms ... well it will mean turning this
house upside down for a little while. Thank goodness DH has been
decluttering and freed up some space.

Today I began in the office/craft/computer room I intend to go clockwise
around the room starting at the door. I have sorted out of bookcase number
one (nearest the door) all the stuff that I can part with and tomorrow I
will get some boxes from the shop and pack up the remaining contents and
store them in the living room. The bookcase will then be cleaned and I shall
go onto bookcase number two (next to bookcase number one). This one contains
all the files and stuff related to my Book Keeping job that I do from home,
so cannot really be packed up as I need the stuff on a daily basis, its
likely to be moved away from the wall so that it won't be in the way when I
come to decorate.

The plan of action, such as it is, is to store the stuff from this room
(except the stuff I manage to donate or trash) in the living room. When the
office/computer/craft room is as empty as I can get it (still allowing
access to the Book Keeping stuff so I can continue working) I shall begin
the task of decorating: Preparation; Paint - ceiling, walls, woodwork. Then
I can strip out the old carpet, tackle what ever is under there and
hopefully it won't be too bad.

Then I can move the bedroom stuff in here and start moving the stuff out of
the living room into the old bedroom.

Sounds simple doesn't it ....

The bedroom is bigger than the office/computer/craft room, so I gain ... the
wardrobes where we store our clothes will have to stay where they are. There
are no curtains or blinds in the computer/office/craft room, and the ones in
the bedroom won't fit. I expect I shall be making new ones. DH will start
his new job before this 'project' is complete.

The two phone lines that are in the office will have to be moved, DH will do
that, he's done it before I am sure he won't mind doing it again. DH will
also fit the new carpet and put up the curtain rail or blinds (which ever we
decide on) but I get to choose the colours for the paint.

To be honest I wish this 'project' could wait a couple of months, its
nearing the end of the financial year which is the busiest time for the book
keeping job but when I consider how important it is that DH should get
quality sleep at a time when he is persuading his body clock to change
dramatically it must be done as soon as possible.

I'll keep you posted as I go, I have moved rooms before but it has never
interfered with the room with sleep in. Hopefully it should all go smoothly,
I am keeping my fingers crossed. I have measured both rooms and have a
layout on paper LOL, lets just hope I got the measurements right. The
hardest part will be moving the bed ...

Louise
