Hello all

Today I have achieved something that I thought not possible .... I have
finally got the books up to date and ready for the accountants (Paid Book
Keeping job), I am so pleased it is now out of the way. When I sat down at
my desk this afternoon it seemed an impossible task, but I divided the job
down into small tasks and tackled each one separately. I had a small break
of ten minutes after each one and surprised myself!

As to the office/computer/craft room, well I can now start boxing up the
stuff related to the book keeping job and move it out of this room, which
should just leave my computer, its bits and pieces and the desk it sits on
(which is held up by the filing cabinets). So I am well on my way.

Tomorrow I have to work all day at the shop (holiday cover) and don't expect
to be able to complete much in here. Friday I have work in the morning and
then its the 'pick up the paperwork relating to the said book keeping job'
run into town.

Depending on what DH has planned I am all set to get this room emptied and
the decorating preparations well underway by Saturday lunch time. I can do
this... haven't I done it several times before LOL.

Luckily both desks in here are just work surfaces supported by either filing
cabinets or book shelves so they won't take up a lot of room once
dismantled. I have one small problem though... where to put the PC and its
bits during the change over. There isn't anywhere that I can set it up so I
can use it whilst the decorating and moving is going on except in here. I
may have to box the lot up and take it to my parents house for safe keeping.
The living room will be full and as this is probably my most valuable
possession I will feel happier with it completely out of the way.

6 large bags of rubbish went out this morning, one of those was shredded
paper. I have still to get some boxes to put the stuff for donation into;
work at the shop this morning was a little hectic and to be honest I just
couldn't be bothered to walk the 4 minutes home with several boxes.

Now for a question: this room, where I am sat at the moment, has a curve in
the ceiling where it meets the outside wall, so there isn't a definite line
or edge where the outside wall begins and the ceiling starts and visa versa.
Today I had a light bulb moment (I think LOL), which is where my question
stems from. I would like to paint one of the walls a shade of yellow, not a
bright banana yellow more a mellow, soft yellow, a sort of whiter shade of
yellow and the other walls a whiter shade of blue.

So my question is ... is there any reason why a ceiling shouldn't be a
whiter shade of yellow or blue?

At present the whole room is white; walls, ceiling and woodwork.

I have already decided that the one wall that will a different colour from
the others will be the one containing the window which happens to be the
outside wall, which has a curve at the top and then becomes the ceiling.

So do I paint this wall a whiter shade of blue and thus the ceiling too or
do I paint it a whiter shade of yellow and do the ceiling too?

I feel I must tell you at this point that most of the walls in this house
are bright colours and we have decided that the new bedroom should have
colour but done subtlety, hence the whiter shade colour. Its more restful. I
propose to use the other colour in the curtains that we put at the window.
If this wall is yellowish it will have blue curtains, if its blue we shall
have yellow curtains.

The curtains are to be velvet and lined so as to block out the light (DH
will be sleeping in here in the daytime). As velvet comes in a variety of
colours and shades we are not restricted in our choice of colour.

I realise that mostly blue will make the room feel cold where as yellow will
feel warmer and fresher to wake up to. Personally I'd like to paint the room
lilac but that would mean changing all the bedding and DH hates lilac LOL.

Your advice if any would be greatly appreciated.

Well I better had make a move, I have dinner to prepare and today's load of
laundry to put away. If I feel and energetic as I do now after dinner I
shall make a start in here even if it means cutting away the carpet (if only
to see what is under there).

Talk to you later

Louise
