<< We just built a house and within a month the dryer wasn't working. Come to find out (from the Sears repairman) that the vent went UP and with the mesh grate on it, had clogged already. He suggested we take it off, but said it would just clog up again eventually and we REALLY should have had them vent it out the wall. Thanks for the tip, Sir... a little late. SO, thank YOU for the info and discussion about cleaning it which I KNOW will be useful for us in the future. >> Lori - I'm glad to hear from you - please join us in posting somtimes. I'm the one who had the dryer lint problems - so I was wondering, what did you end up doing? Just cleaning it out for now? The dryer man told me the same thing - move it to an outside wall. That is not a practical or easy thing to do with my set up. I am still using the temporary fix of the pantyhose leg over the vent, which is working. I'm going to try cleaning out the dryer vent pipe, but someone has to get on the roof to do that - not me. I'm not sure what the opening looks like up there - it definitely has a cover over it that you can see from the outside. Let me know if you've figured anything out.
