Welcome,

You made a good start with your bedroom closet.

about those boxes you haven't unpacked since you moved in, they have been there for more than 2 years. Did you miss any of the stuff that is in those boxes? probably not, otherwise you would have unpacked those boxes, so this might be hard, but actually you can do
without the content of those boxes!
The hardest part would be to toss them unopened.
What you could do, ask a good friend to go through those boxes for you to see if there are any personal things in it, take those out and toss the rest!

But I can understand that right now that isn't the easiest thing to do when you just have started decluttering.
And I'll be honest I myself would like to know to what is in those boxes if they were mine :-)

several of us are with FlyLady, one of her tips is to declutter 15 minutes a day. it might sound not much, but it is a start.
want to find out more about it?

Anyway you have come to the right place, as several of us are having troubles with clutter and decluttering.
A good tip I got from someone from an other list:
don't let any more clutter come into your house!
so stop it from growing!

Just tackle one drawer at a time.

Subject: [JFC]: Greetings!

Hi Everyone!

I'm brand new to this list, and even the idea of decluttering!  Last week I cleaned out my bedroom closet.  I gave 4 large bags of clothes to a relative that is 3 sizes smaller than myself, and still had 2 bags of clothes to donate that weren't either of our sizes.  I also threw out 2 bags of hangers.  Now, these weren't any ordinary grocery store paper bags... they were the big black lawn and leaf bags.

I fear I am in trouble.  I have 3 junk drawers in my kitchen.  I have projects started I have never finished.  I have over 500 floppy disks full of images from my digital camera and they are not labeled.  I have boxes in my attic of things I HAD to move from my last home that had been packed there for over two years... I've lived in my house for 4.  I've got gidgets and gadgets and things I don't use in every room of my house.

I am in desperate need of decluttering, and I don't know where to start.

Any advice for a newbie?

Thanks!

Jodie
