30 October 2008 - Grenade Attack in Malakal Kills 1
Child, Injures 8
30 October 2008 – (Malakal) – A child was killed and
eight others were seriously injured when a grenade was
thrown into a house in Malakal on Wednesday. Ali Jacob,
the owner of the house, said that the incident occurred
at night as the children were watching television. Jacob
said that when he heard the explosion he rushed in to the
room and found the injured children. The children are
being treated in Malakal hospital. Jacob, who is a
policeman, said that he was involved in an operation to
disarm local people and he thought this might have been a
motive for the attack. Police are now investigating.
