30 October 2008 - SPLM in Jonglei Starts Elections
Campaigning
30 October 2008 – (Bor) – The SPLM in Jonglei state has
started a campaign to explain the political ideas of the
party in preparation for general elections anticipated in
2009. Led by Jonglei state Secretary-General Bol Kuol,
the mission will inform people about the CPA and instruct
them about the elections and the referendum. Speaking to
Sudan Radio Service on the phone from Pibor County,
Commissioner Akot Maze said he believes the SPLM is the
most popular party in the region. [Akot Maze]: “The
campaign is about SPLM policies, to make people aware of
the objectives of the SPLM. We have no other popular
party apart from SPLM. We have the National Congress
Party, which is not really effective. In a general sense
we can see people are supporting the SPLM. The
expectation of the people of Pibor County is maybe going
to be positive.” The SPLM mission will go to Akobo,
Fangak and the nine other counties in Jonglei state later
in the week.
