SPLM-DC became a CHOLLO (Shilluk) party not nationalized anymore.

BY: Michael Mathiang Ngong, CAIRO, EGYPT

FEB. 28/2011, SSN; While I was recently attending to the English news
on the Southern Sudan TV which broadcast all the incidents that are
happening across South Sudan and beyond, I abruptly came across the
announcement posted by the media on behalf of the SPLM-DC Caucus in
which the members of the parliament in the South Sudan Legislative
assembly invited all the Chollo community living in Juba to attend the
celebration organized by the SPLM-DC leadership to commemorate the
victory of the Southern Sudanese people in the referendum for having
overwhelmingly voted for Separation.

On that same occasion that will be conducted at Nyakuron Cultural
center the members of the SPLM-DC shall celebrate the birth of the new
nation.

This kind of notice has left me wondering and perplexed on the next
agenda of the SPLM-DC in the new independence nation.

Early on it was predicted that the party's program shall be to shape
the country into a better place as preached by the leader of the
SPLM-DC, Dr. Lam Akol.

This juvenile step taken by the party members to localize their
hallucinations and objectives to the point of being for the Shilluk
family purely as clarified by the announcement, is going to be very
dangerous to the SPLM-DC and its membership, and maybe jeopardize
them.

My question is this, has the SPLM-DC becomes the party of CHOLLO
community only or what? What is the reason for calling the Shilluk
community in particular to attend the celebration, something which was
supposed to be attended by all the people of South Sudan?

I realized right away from the inauguration that this party was not
going to last long to serve the interest of every one regardless of
his/her ethnicity, religion, region, tribe, section, gender, education
background and disability.

All I have understood from the leadership of the SPLM-DC was to preach
propaganda against SPLM during its formation so that it could gain
popularity which it dramatically failed to achieve. Now the same
citizens whom the SPLM-DC have promised lack of tribalism in its
leadership can not attend the celebration because they are not from
Shilluk of Upper Nile.

The SPLM-DC has blind-folded the people of Southern Sudan that it has
formed a splinter group so as to fight tribalism, provide job
opportunities, eradicate corruption and make available transparency in
the party system and run the affairs of the nation and to their
satisfaction if given a chance by Southerners.

Lam Akol has dug his own grave and buried himself in the same pit by
altering the agenda that was laid down in their constitution.

In order to prove that, the party is not a political party with clear
objectives anymore. I would like to highlight some of these incidents
for the public to digest.

Firstly, the defection of the then SPLM-DC Secretary General Mr.
Kisanga, could support my position that this party is no longer a
national party. Kisanga had expressed his deep dissatisfaction with
the party leadership and more specifically the Chairman of SPLM-DC who
turned out to be a real dictator and egocentric, a man who does not
take the decision of other people other his own opinion. He is the
chairman of the party, Secretary general and the advisor, all these in
one person.

The former Secretary General had realized that the SPLM-DC was
betraying the people of Southern Sudan and this was proven by so many
comments that were uttered by Lam Akol.

During one of the occasions he said that the separation of South Sudan
from the Northern Sudan was going to be a disaster and it meant a call
for a Dinka government and that minorities shall not be protected at
all, which no one can believe this under any circumstance.

Dr. Lam Akol who later on became a close friend to President Bashir
because of the being the fiercest tool used to stab the people of
South Sudan at their backs shall not get any more support from the
wise citizens of Southern Sudan. He is nothing other than being a
chairman of another NCP in the south.

How can a party with a tribal agenda be given a chance to guide the
people of South Sudan to a better future? People of South Sudan are
tired of this poor kind of leadership which has nothing to improve the
living standards of the people but take away their valued dignity.

Secondly, One can tell exactly that the SPLM-DC is a Shilluk party by
looking at the support which it had gained during last year's
elections and currently most members of the parliament representing
SPLM-DC as an opposition party are from that particular area..

I wish to see the SPLM-DC revisiting its constitution and making sure
there are norms in place that can accommodate the interess of all
people of South Sudan.

Southerners need a political party that has a clear agenda in terms of
service deliverance and other developmental projects such as
construction of better roads, provision of better health and quality
education. Above all, provision of clear strategies that can prevent
the economy from collapsing at all.
