The UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, has welcomed the Assembly's decision, calling the latest reports from Libya "sobering." The United States has also welcomed the decision to suspend Libya's membership. In a press statement, US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, said the General Assembly, "has made it clear that governments that turn their guns on their own people have no place on the Human Rights Council." Last week the UN Security Council referred Libya to the International Criminal Court. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "JFD info" group.
