Southern Opposition Parties are part of Nation Skeleton, Not SPLM
alone: A response to 'In Defense Of Flag: Banner on the Mountains.'

By/Lok Franco Kok,South Sudan

MAR. 6/2011, SSN; Democracy presupposes that every man is in principle
capable of giving answers to personal, social and political questions
which are as worthy of respect as any other man, that communication is
possible between all men, or at least all men within a single society,
because men are prepared to act on behalf of ideals and not merely be
actuated by possibly unrecognized interests, and persuasion can be
used to induce them to modify their present aims and recognize the
value of those of others.

All people do respect the efforts of our Late hero Dr.John Garang, but
that does not mean we are entitled not to present our views in the
formation of our nation. Dr. John served the people of Southern Sudan
till the last minutes of his life, that won't be forgotten and I
believes His Name I think will be in the front page of south Sudan
History. I could slightly disagree with the author in his statement of
fringe opposition parties Who believed the flag was Designed by one
mind of Dr. John Garang.

Leaders are always flexible and willing to alter direction. On the
plus side, leaders aren’t afraid to admit they were wrong. On the
minus side, they can be difficult to deal with and are apt to change
their minds. SPLM is now the newly-born Nation's ruling party. Each
individual’s ideas ought to be respected, even if they’re not adopted.

SPLM is not a Nation, but a political party in the Nation. How could
SPLM mastermind every work and ignore the others political parties?

It is true that the Flag was Designed by one mind. There is nothing
wrong with the Flag, but if it belongs to the Nation now we could no
longer considered it as belonging to a political party. SPLM should
design another Flag as a political party. All South Sudan Political
Parties have an absolute right to keep insisting and ask SPLM either
to quit the Flag for the Nation or design another. The efforts of all
Southern Sudanese, I believe was that they brought us out of
marginalization, and because of that we could respect their right.

We might be proud of our Flag in whatever name we give it, but it
should not be from one mind, as we are in a school of democracy and
learn to rule ourselves in democratic way. Any 'dream team' is
comprised of a talented and highly motivated person, leading a
talented and highly motivated team. Without motivation, talent is
nothing more than wasted potential.

So, before exploring feedback techniques, let's look at motivation.
The idea of motivation alone is an interesting subject. The word,
motivation, is often misused and/or misunderstood.

We all knows that Dr. John concentrated a lot for united Sudan. That,
I believe is the weak side of our late Hero's struggle. Why did our
Late leader fight to liberate his people and at the same time talk of
Unity with the enemy? If the point was to unite black Africans in the
Sudan so that he becomes the leader of the Sudan, this is as an
imagination as it is a dream. Nobody need to liberate them, the fact
is going to reveal itself in the outcome of popular consultations of
blue Nile and Southern Kordofan(Nuba mountain).

Jesus told the soldiers to be contended with their wages. So Dr. John
Garang should be contended with Southern Sudan. In any case, this is
my perspective whether people like it or not. Anyway, I am not
oblivious about the fact that facts are bitter. Someone said that the
problem always lies in what is not told.

Dr. John Garang has never ever made a mistake to pronounce the Right
of Self-determination for the people of South Sudan. His primary goal
was unity and he was saying this openly in the Arab world. If this is
a joke, then things are beyond joke.

Thanks to Comrade Salva Kiir Mayardit who struggled to champion the
Right of Self-determination protocol Agreement. Comrade Salva was
among the few Southern Sudanese who made tireless efforts to defend
the right of Self-Determination for the people of Southern Sudan. This
ultimately led him a well respected leader. I continue to believe that
the most important is staying focused in this area to keep teaching
ourselves for democracy.

Dr. John did practice communism throughout his rule, but we need to
put an end to it and work in a democratic way. In communism, the power
is vested in a group of people who decide the course of action. It is
this group of people who decide on the activities of the public. These
groups of people may interfere in the public life of others. This view
is widespread beyond the confines of South Sudan today.

If one take a more benevolent view, society is an enormous hospital
and all men are inmates, each suffering in greater or lesser degree
from some kind of malaise or maladjustment, which it is the duty of
awareness believed to cure or at least to make bearable. Let 's rule
our nation in a wise democratic way where all could have an absolute
right of expression.
