By Deng Simon Deng Kuacjok, 17th March, 2011 [Gurtong] - Over 100 citizens have been employed in Warrap State Government’s Information Technology offices, NGOs, and private sectors after qualifying from Adharcom Technology Group institute in Kuacjok. Adharcom Technology Group is the first institution of its kind to offer technology services in the state since the signing of the comprehensive peace agreement -CPA in 2005. Initially, IT skills were not considered by an employer generally in the State other than other different coursework. However, computer skills have nowadays become a key requirement in the State offices due to digitization of services making it difficult for citizens to qualify. Adharcom started with one computer then increased to 6 computers that saw the successful completion of 500 graduates between 2007 and 2011. “I started with SDG 1,500 (USD&) and one computer teaching more than 30 students in one classroom to assist citizens who were preoccupied during the civil war to learn computer skills. We offered certificates in IT, Internet, stationeries and accessories courses”, said Adhar Manyiel Juk the general manager. Mr. Adhar added that it was his brain child idea to lead in this innovation in Warrap State. He elaborated that many employers always seek computer literate personnel making it difficult for many citizens to get employment anywhere in the State. The competition isn’t high for Adhar in the State since a few investors are engaged in computer technology services, to his surprise, 20% of computer literate employees in the State graduated from his institution. Manyiel said that he dint want his company to raise price due to high demand of skills needed by majority of marginalized citizens in the State capital as well as in the respective counties. “We have gone tough stages and at last we made it for our State”, said Majok Lual, a local residence in Kuacjok. Kuacjok is the State Capital of Warrap State since 2005. The central town was approved capital immediately after interim government of South Sudan started operating in 2005. The pioneer graduates from Adharcom Technology Group -ATG informed other local workers about the fundamental differences of old-fashioned office work to the modern office automation systems. This caused an influx of students registering for IT courses with Adharcom According to the manager, the institution has a vision to be the leading IT based institution in Warrap, he said that he had made arrangements with Almadar Air service, transport companies and other companies to make it easy to access air tickets from Kuacjok and not Wau. The system shall transform Warrap State into modern computer technology. Posted in: Home -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "JFD info" group.
