WAU, 16th April, 2011 [Gurtong] – A high profile delegation from the
office of the president of the Government of Southern Sudan led by the
former Warrap State Governor, Tor Deng Mawein, are in Wau to
investigate political disagreements between the State Government and
the SPLM party.

While briefing the committee who arrived in Wau on Friday, the Western
Bahr el Ghazal State SPLM Chairman Gen. Mark Nyipuoch accused the SPLM
State secretary, Kamil Wana Uraj, who is also the State Government
Adviser on Political Affairs, of spending much of his working hours in
State Government office than working towards SPLM’s daily affairs.

Nyipuoch accused the SPLM State Secretary of cooperating with the
State government leading to the down fall of the party.

“We have come to establish the problem and find a solution to the
current situation so that the State Government can work side by side
with SPLM towards developing our new nation,” said Tor Deng.

“We will sit with the State Assembly on this matter, so that the
peaceful coexistence is restored now since no one is above the law,”
he added.

Dr. Tilar Ring who accompanied the delegation said that South Sudanese
didn’t fight to negate themselves. “As we move towards the new nation,
we need to unite the entire citizens of South Sudan,” Tilar added.

In the recent past, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement secretariat
in Western Bahr el Ghazal State and the State Government has been in
confrontation leading to political instability in the region.

Last Month, the SPLM Western Bahr el Ghazal State Liberation Council
called for an extraordinary meeting, to resolve the State government’s
decree of offering the public land at the freedom square for building
the SPLM premises.

The party council turned down the land offer based on the State
Government’s resolution No. 3/2011 as dated 20/01/2011 without the
consent of SPLM.

The council’s meeting also resolved the government’s decision of
taking over the party’s monthly subscription funds remitted in
government block account. The SPLM State Chairman, Gen. Mark Nyipuoch
said that the State Government was acting outside its powers by
controlling these funds.

As a result, the GOSS president Salva Kiir decided to send an
investigation team to Western Bahr el Ghazal State for a fact finding
mission and to establish solutions aimed at peaceful coexistence
between the party and the State government.
