It has been 30 years since the first case of HIV was diagnosed, 10 years since the landmark UN General Assembly Special Session on HIV/AIDS, and 5 years since countries met to commit to universal access to HIV services. The meeting couldn't have come at a better time - funding for AIDS is on the decline, while competing global priorities such as climate change have captured the world's attention.
