SAF Accused Of Genocide In Abyei By GoSS News from Sudan Radio Service 10 June 2011—(Juba) —The representative of the government of southern Sudan at the United States, Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth has accused the Sudan Armed Forces of committing genocide in Abyei after displacing thousands of civilians last month.
The southern Sudanese diplomat, who is also the head of GOSS liaison office in the United State alleged that SAF has maimed, killed and intentionally chased Dinka Ngok out of Abyei. Ambassador Gatkuoth during a workshop of GOSS ministry of regional cooperation in Juba said that the military takeover of Abyei by the SAF has amounted to killing and displacing the Dinka Ngok based on their ethnicity. [Ezekiel Gatkuoth]: “It is actually more than crimes against humanity. It is genocide that they (SAF) have done. The Sudan Armed Forces should be held accountable, and that is what I said in New York at the UN Security Council meeting. There has to be swift and consequences for those who did this. We will actually pursue this in the UN, in the world bodies and even in the ICC, because what they (SAF) have done in Abyei is not short than what they have done in Darfur.
