Scarcity of fuel continues in southern Sudan with most vehicles off
the roads in Juba. The Chairman of the Taxi Drivers Association,
Emmanuel Charles, said that the shortage of fuel has affected the
movement and lives of people in Juba.

The Secretary General of Petroleum Association of Southern Sudan,
Samuel Jok, said the few petrol stations currently operating in town
have branches in East Africa, from where they import fuel.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry of Energy and
Mining in the Government of Southern Sudan, William Deng Athian, told
Radio Miraya that fuel is being prioritised for the Electricity
Corporation, hospitals, and security sectors.

However, he said that the ministry will be regulating the purchase of
fuel and people will not be allowed to buy fuel in containers, and
only be allowed to fill the tanks of their vehicles.
