A farmer never operate surgical wounds, neither a soldier knows what to teach in classrooms, everyone has a role in life, and that is why my title reads Mr. Laat Ayie Jal and not Engineer Laat Ayie Jal because I know nothing in engineering and architecture field. Dear Engineer: this open letter addresses the security situation in Lakes State as the situation escalates from bad to worse under your leadership, I’m not writing this letter to criticize you as an individual, perhaps I’m blaming the entire cabinet under your leadership for having measurably failed to restore human dignity in Lakes State . Under your stewardship, Mr. Engineer, appeared a new phenomena of cold blooded murders, killing elderly men and women, young girls and children of early ages as young as 7 months, have never been a culture of this community, neither has this practice been allowed anywhere without tolerance in its maximum capacity. It cannot get any worse than this, and as a loyal citizen of this great State, I run out of the patience, and left with no choice but to speak out loud in case you have never heard or witness the horrific tragedies of cold blooded killings that are being committed by thugs and crossroads robbers in Lakes State. In May 2011 alone, Agar and Gok clashes, the victims were innocents elderly men and women, children and girls from both sides, in the same month fighting erupted between Gok and Pakam, the same vulnerable group paid the price. The killing went beyond imagination when those merciless murderers killed a 7 month old baby together with the mom, another mother is killed while the innocent baby continues to breast feed on the dead body’s milk. It is horrific, this image resembles the Rwandan civil massacre and it reflect nothing other than failed government in Lakes State . Mr. Engineer, your promises during the election campaign if I could recall them properly was to improve the security situation in Lakes, and it was against that mandate that citizens voted overwhelmingly to put you in power, the assembly wasted no time approving the security budget, perhaps it had been passed unquestioned, where did the money go? We’re witnessing the police forces withdrawing from their assigned hot spots where they could effectively provide full protection to civilians in fear of hunger. How can these man and women in uniform desert their posts and the budget needed is there? Is it difficult for Lakes State government to provide bags of sorghum, sugar and rice to police stations at crossroads to spare human lives? We also realize that your government kept silent and reinforced nothing to help the situation leave alone the sole responsibility you left to commissioners to provide food for police forces. Is this real? Where can commissioners get budget to feed police forces? Moreover, you break your silence announcing the unexpected, people of Lakes State awaited your affirmative action to introduce tougher punishments to those who commit crimes rather you issuing a decree appointing State advisors for border security and others for ministries within. Is this really a solution to Lakes State crisis? The advisors you appoint would probably need (6) V8 and 8000 SDG plus service to each of them and move around the State with empty work-plan, what kind of help will this appointment render people of Lakes State? The real help should have been buying food and incentives for police forces who are patrolling the conflict areas to end further escalation. Dear Mr. Engineer, your reputation in Lakes State is far greater than this. As a best wisher and a true friend of your government, I would advise you to step down and resign to save a little pride for yourself if there is any left. If your intention is to govern and protect human lives, then I see no justification for you to continue holding as governor of Lakes State. You cannot govern people whose death count is on rise beyond reporting. Step aside maybe someone else would be able to put an end to this. Study the quotation above from the book of John, he who cares and value human life pays the ultimate price even if it requires he/her own souls to free, spare or protect someone’s life, leave alone quitting the governorship job. Look at the live example taken by the President of South Sudan, Mr. Salva Kiir, despite the aggression, intimidation, occupation and violation to all protocols committed by Arabs SAF-- Salva says let them be in Abeyi, No return to war. The man cares and he spare lives of our military personnel because those who should have died to quell Arabs out from Abeyi would live now to see the rising flag on the sky of Southern Sudan by July 9th. Dear Chol, you’re a Russian intellect, and you dare know that Western world values human life and as a result those who run for public offices have to be wealthy and property owners that can enable them to contribute to government. That’s why it is easy for any authority to resign-- it does not matter what capacity they serve in the government. Your resignation will alert Lakers to “look inward” as rightly put by Daniel Awet Akot, the current GOSS Deputy Speaker, on some occasions. Chances are your predecessor may apply different technique, fresh new team with different ideologies on how to deal with these hard core gangsters of Lakes State. Dear Engineer, Lakes State may need you on a different portfolio or maybe something close to your profession as engineer to come and survey Rumbek town. Resign Mr. Engineer, to avoid being on the wrong side of Lakes State history, avoid being rated the top worst governor of Lakes State governors, enough that the soul of elderly men and women, girls and children are crying for their unjustified lost of lives.
