The Sudan Peoples Liberation Army (SPLA) conducted an impromptu search
operation for illegal guns in Juba town. Security forces were deployed
on Saturday morning along all major routes leading in and out of Juba
town.

The operation targeting mainly vehicles and pedestrians, disrupted
both traffic and business in Juba town. Many businesses remained
closed and several passengers were stranded at the bus station.

The exercise is a part of the efforts by security forces to ensure
that Juba is safe from illegal arms, ahead of the July 9th
independence celebrations, the SPLA Spokesperson, Col. Philip Aguer
Panyang, told Radio Miraya.
