Inmates at Yirol prison, in Lakes state, have complained of the harsh
living conditions in the prison. The inmates made their complaints to
the Lake State High Court President, Geri Raimondo Legge, who toured
the prison on Friday to assess the conditions there.

Legge met the prisoners and listened to their complaints, which ranged
from lack of adequate food and water to lack of uniforms and
electricity in the prison cells. The inmates also complained about the
heavy fines imposed by the courts and asked the government to review
these fines.

The High Court President told the inmates that they have a
constitutional right to appeal to the higher courts if they are not
satisfied with the way their cases were handled by the lower courts.
