Hi David,
Sorry about the delay.

I think I got the Satellite setup right. I followed the directions from : "FW: Satellite problem" http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.network.jffnms.user/361 On the Master in the Satellites setup I have the following records.
Desc: "Local", Parent: "(none)", Satellite URL: "http://masterhostaddress/jffnms/admin/satellite.php", Group: "(none)", Type: "Master"
This if fine.
Desc: "DataCenter", Parent: "Local", Satellite URL:"http://datacenterhostaddress/jffnms/admin/satellite.php", Group: "(none)", Type: "Satellite"
This is too.
On the satellite server on the setup page the Satellite URI is: "http://datacenterhostaddress/jffnms/admin/satellite.php"
perfect.
and the value for the Satellite Server is: "http://masterhostaddress/jffnms/admin/satellite.php"
This is not ok, because this is only for the GUI. Leave it empty.
On the master server on the setup page the Satellite URI is: "http://masterhostaddress/jffnms/admin/satellite.php"
Fine.
On the master I configured a host entry for the router at the location of the
master and it works great.
Again on the master I then configured a host entry for the router
(identical to
the first) at the location of the satellite (DataCenter) and it is having
problems.
I tried on the master to do a manual discovery w/o port scan of the router at
the datacenter. It took a couple of minutes before it came back with nothing
discovered.
Can you reach the router from the master server?
AD is not made distributed yet, so it will work locally from the server you are calling it.
I then configured the host record on the master for the router at
the datacenter to use automagic. There are no interfaces for the datacenter
router on the master server.
This is the same as the Manual Discovery.
On the satelite server I can see the autodiscovered/configured interfaces for the datacenter router and the poller log on the satellite looks like everything should be working: 13:30:02 : H 5 : Possible Paths to 1... 1 13:30:02 : H 5 : Testing Satellite Conexions to 1... 13:30:02 : H 5 : Using direct connexion to Satellite 1: http://masterhostaddres/jffnms/admin/satellite.php 13:30:02 : H 5 : Poller Start : 48 Items. 13:30:02 : H 5 : I 11 : P 1 : reachability_start:ping(): 416... -> buffer(): (time P:23.7 | 189.54) 13:30:05 : H 5 : I 8 : P 10 : tcp_status,tcp_content,conn_delay(): open||0.00304 -> multi_buffer(): (time P:3005.84 | 167.09) ... ... ... 13:30:28 : H 5 : I 9 : P LPD : last_poll_date(): 1097267416 -> db(last_poll_date): (time P:0.08 | 3994.19) 13:30:28 : H 5 : I 10 : P LPD : last_poll_date(): 1097267419 -> db(last_poll_date): (time P:0.08 | 160.64) 13:30:28 : H 5 : Closing Used Satellite Conexion for 1 to 1 ... 13:30:28 : H 5 : Poller End, Total Time: 26452.23 msec.
This is the poller, and it seems to be working correctly.
I am using JFFNMS 0.7.9 with the latest mysql, apache etc. on both servers. The connection between the servers is a ipsec vpn across the internet between two router boxes (not the jffnms servers) that has a max throughput of 1Mb with not much competition for that bandwidth. The apache config on the master uses virtual name server to keep the main (default virtual server) web site seperated from the support website. Thats why I used a FQDN for the satellite URI.
Thanks in advance for the help.
DS
