Hi Johan,

I don't understand you.

Rechability interface pings, are from the Linux Server.
Physical Interface (PING-MIB) pings are from the host, to the Peer address of the interface.

Javier,

Is there a way to re-produce, for expample a ping-command from the
linux-server, the result of the ping-mib, because it gives more packet-loss
then the normal ping or even ping with large packets ?

Hi Johan,

Which old version do you say? But I understand and I'll bring back the

zones in

the map, together with the new Host Types, so you can also order the hosts

by type.

There are 2 ways to measure RTT/PL in JFFNMS one is in Linux using fping

and the

other is platform independent using Cisco PING-MIB, on Cisco routers with

RW

communities to measure the Local Loop (ie ping to the other side of a

/30).

You should check to which SLA does that SLA condition belongs, because it

could

be the Physical Interfaces SLA, that uses the PING-MIB.

Javier,

I have question : what is the long term view on the use of zones ? Is
there in the new version of jffnms possibility to see the hosts linked
to a certain zone ? With the older version i could click view hosts
under zones. Now i only can do "edit". The use of zones was pretty
interesting, since i need to manage some 250 routers/customers, and with
the zones i can group those routers a bit.
Concerning the packetloss-sla, I think i have a problem since i don't
use fping (windows). I see in the commandline of your proposed sla
<pings> : I guess this is the ping of fping and the cisco ping-mib ?

Greetings,
Johan

Hi Johan,

The PacketLoss measure in Physical interfaces is made using the CISCO

PING-MIB,

this means if the host has RW SNMP, we can make the Router ping the

other side

of the link, and get the RTT and PL.

So, one of the default SLAs, "Customer Fiber Link", has a PacketLoss SLA

included.

But of course you can create one SLA for you that uses the 'packetloss'

field.

IE:

9 | (((<packetloss> * 100) / <pings>) > 50)
       | Packet Loss > 50% | PL > 50% |
((<packetloss> * 100) / <pings>)

You Should check the PacketLoss Graph to see how many packets are you

loosing.

Hi,

I try to get an sla on packetloss/interface. I work on windows server,
so I dont use fping. So I have two questions :
the packetloss you can see on the interfaces under RTT and packetloss,
what exactly does it do ?
How can I create an individual sla for example for > 10 % (no fping),

so

i want the packetloss on the interface.

Johan
