Abel,

Well, it's been 15 minutes and still no screen. Yes; it is on the Internet.
All downloads at this point have been really quick (I have a T1 here). Will
those two items in the conf file really slow the process down that much?

I don't have a sniffer to see if anything is actually on the wire. That was
my phase two with Snort and Ethereal.

Buddy,

Does your server have an internet connection? More specifically does
the server that your are installing JFFNMS on have an internet connection?
If not it may take a while, I even waited for it for 5 minutes before giving
up at one point, for the initial page to load while it waits for the image
file to load for the login box. This is due to the the JFFNMS jffnms.png
file that it is trying to download from
http://www.jffnms.org/jffnms/images/jffnms.png, per the default
configuration options.

Javier,
Would it be possible to change the default to the settings I have used
below? It would work better for those of us who don't want to give the
management station access to the internet. Or it may even be better to use a
file link instead of trying to do it over the http, since people may use a
virtual host to do the install and the "jffnms" part of the url my not be
the same. Let me know what you think on that.

Ok back to Buddy--->

I had to edit my conf file to the following manually to get it to load right
away:

1. Go to your JFFNMS install directory conf folder and open up
jffnms.conf.defaults cd <JFFNMS-INSTALL-DIRECTORY>/conf/ vi
jffnms.conf.defaults

2. Change the follwing lines marked with ">>>>>>>>>>>>>>"

----------FROM----------
logo_image:description = Login Screen Image URL
logo_image:type = uri
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>logo_image:default = /jffnms/images/jffnms.png

          AND

logo_image_url:description = Login Screen Image Link URL logo_image_url:type
= uri
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>logo_image_url:default = http://www.jffnms.org

----------TO----------

logo_image:description = Login Screen Image URL
logo_image:type = uri
logo_image:default = /jffnms/images/jffnms.png

logo_image_url:description = Login Screen Image Link URL logo_image_url:type
= uri logo_image_url:default = http://localhost/

With my configuration above it looks for the image on the localhost in the
<JFFNMS-INSTALL-DIRECTORY>/htdocs/images/jffnms.png. After doing this the
page will load up right away. Not that this only applies if you don't give
your NMS server access to the internet.

-Hope this helps...
