Standard will not DO the changes. So you will be alerted of a change every 30
minutes, but it will add the interface if its new.
Automagic will change the DB when it sees something different.
You can verify this in the Autodiscovery Policy menu somewhere inside
"Administration".
This has nothing to do with polling, just with DB to Host matching/checking.
