Hello, I'm designing a network that is a simple star configuration, with the HOST/HUB being a T3 Frame Relay connection. Most of the remote sites are small frac T1 sites.
Traditionally, I'd use HSRP and (2) cisco routers for this sort of implementation. However, the new network will provide opportunity for about 30 days of experimentation and demonstration of possible alternative solutions. If the non-cisco solution is cost effective and robust, then it's a done deal. So, I'm going to set up UCARP (as VRRP seems to have fallen out of favor with open source folks): http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_Setup_IP_failover_with_UCARP My questions are: 1. Has anyone used JFFNMS to monitor either a HSRP or UCARP dual router configuration? Any suggestions or caveats, preferable using UCARP.....? QOS management and SLA data collection are of paramount concern. 2. If I use UCARP, on Linux machines (Gentoo is my preferred distro) then who's (PCI)T3 frame relay cards would you recommend? Any other comments and input is most welcome.. James ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take Surveys. Earn Cash.
