I've monitored both HSRP and VRRP enabled interfaces. They look pretty
much like normal interfaces really.

All those protocols needs a multicast address and at least a multicast
but preferably broadcast media (eg ethernet) T3's are point to point.
Unless you are using some sort of funky setup, routing would be a
better idea.
