Hmmm. I've had Unchecky installed and operating for several months, and the activity log is completely empty. Perhaps I'll reinstall it.

It runs as a system service, not like a regular program, and if you bring up the control pane via that icon the button that allows you to shut it down reads, "Suspend Service" not "Exit." It pretty much has to run constantly in the background if it's to perform its intended duty. Of course, it doesn't have to if you are diligent enough to activate it before each install, but most people aren't, and it's designed to keep most people from ending up with stuff they don't want on their systems.
