Carolyn, Then there's some JAWS setting that's not passing standard Windows keyboard shortcuts through to IE (and probably other Windows programs).
ALT should always cause the menu bar to appear (if it's not already visible) for any Windows program that's got one, or throw focus on the ribbon for those programs that use it. The H then opens up the Help Menu in IE The A then brings up the "About Internet Explorer" dialog This is an interesting development, as I've never seen this happen (or not happen, in this case), in Internet Explorer when JAWS is running.
