Hi Jean,

Sorry, it took so long. I was looking for the most friendliest instructions. I
found instructions for windows7 and earlier and instructions for windows10
which is probably similar to windows8. It should work, if it don’t or you get
stuck holla back.

Here are the instructions:

1.Power on the embosser and check that the status is Ready in the Printer and
Faxes folder.

2.Connect the embosser to the network, keeping the USB cable connected.

3.Create the local network port on the computer.

Windows7 and earlier: Select start/settings/Printers and Faxes

 Select File/Server properties,

windows10: press start, type printer manager, hit enter

select the Port tab and press Add Port

Select Standard TCP/IP Port andri New Port to start the add Standard TCP/IP
Printer Wizard

Follow the Wizard, insert the defined IP address in Printer Name or IP
address, port name will be filled in automatically.

If the Additional port information required appears, select Generic Network
Card, press next

4.Change the port for the embosser to the new IP-port.

5.Disconnect the USB cable from the embosser and computer

No. I don’t know how to do that. Can you give instructions on creating a new
port? Perhaps that fits with a setting in the embosser where I can set a static
IP address.

So far I have just used the embosser dynamic IP address. The Index manual is
very vague on wireless networking.

But this is not really JAWS related, so if you have any further suggestions,
please write privately. My email is after my name. Thanks.

Hello Jean,

Have you tried creating a new port and giving the embosser a dedicated ip
address on the network.

hi Tom,

That’s interesting. I never had this problem with Windows 8.1 using Jaws 15.
This might mean it is a Jaws 17 problem not reading that window.

I find the same behaviour on win 8.1. Fortunately you are placed on the yes
button by default. It might be the same for win 10.

Using Jaws 17 (current, and Windows 10. When deleting a printer, Jaws does not
read the delete window. E.g., go to printer, press enter to select, tab to
Remove. Then all Jaws reads is Fly Out Window. It does not read the text as in
Are you sure you want to delete this printer? Yes, No, Cancel, or whatever the
choices are. I needed sighted help to remove a printer definition. Just sharing
this for what it’s worth.
