Ann, The Format Painter in Word 2010 is one of the few instances I've found where the "hover over" keyboard shortcut presented is not accurate. It shows CTRL+SHIFT+C but no matter how many times I've tried that it never turns format painter on. However, if I've got something selected, then use the "Ribbon Shortcut," ALT+H+FP it does activate Format Painter. Then I can select the other stuff I want to "format paint" and it takes on the format of the stuff that had been selected prior to using the ALT+H+FP command to activate Format Painter.
