Adrian, the funny thing is, if I run FF in safe mode, the JAWSCursor can read text on the screen. also, when I was still using Windows XP and experiencing this problem, my nephew said there was something on the screen that he clicked to get rid of. what it was, I don't know. maybe FS has a suggestion.

Uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't help, the problem remains.
